Mission 101-2010 Update
Major Beck 2
[info]shirleyann66
Hi, there.  *waves sheepishly*

I don't think I've ever updated here...but that doesn't mean I haven't been working on my list (although not necessarily successfully...  :) ).

Anyway, I've been updating my progress on my private journal.  The latest update is here, and it includes a link to the first update.  I intend to update to this community on a more regular basis from now on.

The PD December AND 2010 Mission 101 Update!

[info]patentdragon
The List | Previous Updates: 2010
January - February - March - April - May - June - July - August - September - October - November - December...

And so, Year 1 of my Mission 101 comes to an end. It's been a very positive thing, despite the limited number of completed tasks, but strong progress has been made on several multi-part tasks, most of which should count as completed when September 28 2012 comes along. A long way to go yet, and plenty of opportunities to shine... but first, let's tie up 2010!

The December SCORE! Column... I may not be actively using said piece of furniture, and it may not be 100% what I'm looking for, but I can say I've fulfilled the criteria for
87 - Get a decent computer desk that DOESN'T have a metal frame!
- once i get the chance to "road-test" the item in question, I'll know for certain!

Also, I have a NEW TASK!
99 - Reach an audience!
The idea behind this one is that I receive meaningful feedback, on at least a semi-regular basis, for the various public Tasks and projects I carry out. deviantART.com will certainly help things along - but for a start, I need to start producing postable material - tasters of "mainstream" chapters, perhaps...?

Finally, I have reassigned Task 64, which got the chop in November. This now reads
64 - Complete The Move without any serious drama
- an achieveable goal if the rest of the universe will just let me get on with it!

Next, a look back on 2010...

The Review of 2010 - Completed Tasks... )

The Tasks In Progress 2010... )

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how things've gone. I can see several of the "in progress" Tasks reaching fruition in plenty of time for "Zero Day" - I already have a third concert lined up for Task 90, and half of Task 98 can get crossed off as 2011's Blockbuster Season gets going. I'm hoping to be more creative this year, particularly once I get moving house out of the way...

Replacement Task 64!

[info]patentdragon
Mission Update! I pulled my original Task 64 a couple of weeks ago, and now I have a replacement!
64 - Complete The Move without any serious drama
- a lot of the stresses and strains involved may be beyond my control, but at least I can not make things worse.

Yep. Happy with that.

Weeks 40-42

[info]balloonhat
I can't believe it's December! I'm two months-ish away from my 1-year mark for this.

From Week 40 to Week 42, I:

...read Habitation of the Blessed [AWESOME] and Servant of the Underworld [decent] (#087: Review all books I finish.).
...saw Burlesque, Tangled, Sita Sings the Blues, Dreamkeeper, Homeland, and The Canary Effect (#023: Review all US films I watch, starting Aug 2010). Maybe I should have a separate "Watch X number of documentaries" or something.
...completed #073: Wear a scarf out. And I didn't feel at all silly when I wore it either!
...submitted one of my stories to a local writing contest (#060: Submit to a writing contest 7 times; at 4/7 now), and received another mix CD (#069: Exchange mix CDs with someone 5 times; 4/5 now).
...totally dropped the ball on #019 (get in shape), part of which involved going for a long walk three times a week. I had been doing so well with this, too.

Weekly posts: W40, W41 and W42. Full 101/1001 list (which I intend to reexamine, revise and refresh soon) here.

November 2010 - The Patent Dragon Mission Update!

[info]patentdragon
The List | Previous Updates: 2010
January - February - March - April - May - June - July - August - September - October - November...

The SCORE! Column... You may just be able to see the results of Task 62 - Totally revise my blog template - it's not a "by-hand" make-over, and I may still do some CSS modifications, but I bit the bullet, and there it is. I've also switched to an age-limited journal, just to avoid people stumbling over my occasional "colourful metaphors". Hope that's not a problem - and the same could be said of my enormous tag list...

...completed 28-11-2010

Ch-ch-ch-changes... Okay, this is something I haven't done before - totally scrap a task. Task 64 - Try and run an RP thread on Gaia has been binned as that site takes a more irresponible attitude to *ugh* smoking-related items - I've blogged about it, and will say no more. A slot now lies open, which I will fill with the next task that comes to mind, hopefully before the New Year.

Progress...

...after the beep - BEEP! )

In closing... It's not been the strongest of months, and the latter part of 2010 has been something of a struggle, but once house-moving matters are addressed, and dates for that finally finalised, maybe the path will smooth out somewhat. I'll be looking at my list for Tasks I can nail down over the festive period, and tackle them when I have the free time - which has been a bit thin on the ground for quite a bit of the year, and I'm hoping 2011 will go much the same way.

It's been a good year, for a change. Next month, I'll go through the year as a whole, highlighting the positives and negatives from my first year on the Mission 101 trail. Have a good Christmas, Missioneers - and see you in 2011!

Just a few questions.
mission 101
[info]brittanyjewell
I've ran across a few questions as I'm working on my list:
  1. Do mangas count toward book count?  If I rent a manga from a library and read it (I've read 37 mangas this Mission 101 so far), can that count toward my Read 101 books goal?  On another note, do comics count?  I have 2 165+/- page comic that I read as well.
  2. A couple of my goals are Watch all of Tim Burton's movies, Watch all of Johnny Depp's movies, Watch all of Anne Hathaway's movies, etc. When completing this task, would you include the movies you've seen already (in previous years) or would you re-watch all their movies?
I just wanted the opinions of everyone.  As a matter of fact:

Weeks 29 - 39
balloon flower
[info]balloonhat
Apparently, I have neglected to update to here since... um, the end of August (Week 28). Whoops! And I also missed my 9-Month Anniversary, and I didn't do my quarterly evaluation of what I've accomplished so far. Double whoops. On the upside, this made me review my weekly postings at my 101/1001 LJ to see what's happened since then. Not much, but not nothing.

Sometime during Weeks 29 through 39, I:

...saw many new-to-me films: Fight Club, RE: Afterlife, Trudell, Ponyo, Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga'hoole, Bolt, Let Me In, The Secret of Kells, & Megamind. Two of these (Ponyo, The Secret of Kells) counted towards my goal to watch 30 foreign films - I'm at 18/30 now.
...read Gunn's Golden Rules and The Windup Girl. (Wow. I hadn't realized how serious my not-feeling-like-reading mood was til I did this. Huh.)
...MET, AND HUGGED, TIM GUNN (at a book signing).
...began a for-fun novel that I'm sort of failing horribly now, but it's still something.
...went to my first ever wedding for my long-time friend in TX.
...kick butt in one of my classes, so I am pretty sure my GPA should improve by the end of the semester.
...randomly received more scholarship money, which is good news because fretting about money is the number one cause for all the white hairs I have now, I think.
...mostly just tried to get life on track after a Big Upset that ruined some long-term plans. It's been slow going, but it's still progress.

Additional details at weekly posts: W29, W30, W31, W32, W33 & W34, W35, W36 & W37, W38, and W39. Full 101/1001 list here.

Need to sit down and go through my list to see what's still relevant to my interests. I feel like I've been meeting just the bare minimum since I started this, which isn't what I intended at all.
